Hi Everyone!
Sorry it’s been a while since I’ve checked in! Truthfully it’s a busy time of year as we are gearing up for a very busy summer season! We are working on designs for two NEW major Sci-fi franchises but we are keeping it under wraps for a little while longer until we have some of the new merchandise ready. I cannot WAIT to share more with you…I think you will be really excited!
In the meantime, I have some thoughts that I wanted to share with you. Apparently, I’m a little late to the party, but Her Universe is now on Pinterest and I am addicted! Pinterest is right up my alley! I’m actually a pretty private person, so my first instinct is not always to post something about my day on Facebook and Twitter. However, I love to share new discoveries or my favorite things with people. I get so excited to share things that I like with people and Pinterest is the perfect way to share things with your friends! Whether it’s finding shopping tips, recipes, arts and crafts ideas or just inspirational words, I am finding myself constantly wanting to check the Pinterest boards. If you haven’t checked out Pinterest yet, make sure you do and don’t forget to follow my Her Universe boards!
So after, flying and crying through the entire Hunger Games trilogy of books, I was SOOOOOO excited to see the movie. Bottom line, I enjoyed the movie. They cut out a lot of the book which was a bit frustrating at times, but I understand that, because of time, they had to. Overall, it was a nice adaptation. However, what I really want to talk about is Jennifer Lawrence and her performance as Katniss Everdeen. WOW!!! She blew me away!!! I personally thought she was fantastic! As an actress we can sometimes be tough critics. There is a big difference between “acting” the role (when someone can tell that you are reciting lines) and “becoming” the role (this is when the audience forgets they are watching an actor or actress perform and they truly believe they are watching that character). Jennifer Lawrence BECAME Katniss. Jennifer Lawrence, the actress, went away and I felt like I was watching the heroine from district 12 that we have all grown to love. Becoming a character is not easy and Jennifer Lawrence gave a tour de force performance that I hope will, once again, earn her many awards nominations.
I am excited to tell you that we are introducing new t-shirt styles into our collection! We have some racer-back tank tops coming out this summer and a new Dolman top that I am in LOVE with! It’s super soft, has a scoop neck and it drapes the body in a very flattering way. It’s not fitted so it’s very comfortable all the while staying flirty and feminine! Here is a photo of one of my samples of a new Star Wars shirt we are working on. In person it looks vintage, like it’s been in the closet since 1977 and now you’re pulling it back out to wear with some colored jeans for a cool spring/summer look. This top and several new items will be available starting in May!
Well, this is all for now…I am actually writing this on an airplane during flight! They will be telling me to power down soon!
All my best,
Ashley

I love that shirt!! I must have it! I need to wear it to C6! I can’t wait to see the rest of the new tops. Thank you so much for making fan shirts for women!!!
I was rather disappointed with The Hunger Games movie. I mean, most of it was good, but the disappointing parts were huge and made the movie miss doing the book justice to me. Jennifer did a good job, but at some points, I wasn’t impressed to be honest. She didn’t strike me as Katniss. I LOVED Peeta though in the movie, he blew me out of the water.
Can’t wait for the new apparel!!
You may want to repost about the shirt some time later this week, since it’s April Fool’s Day and people have learned not to trust product announcements made today. That said, I’m looking forward to new shirts in the store!
That is such a cool shirt! I will probably be getting it.
“The Hunger Games” was an amazing movie, and the books even more so.
I am greatly looking forward to new items in May, especially the surprise items, as this new style is not my type.
I also cannot wait to read/watch The Hunger Games!
God bless you!!
I’ll be honest, at first I was like “EWWW” when I saw the shirt style, but then I was like “WOOOOW.” XD I really love how vintage it looks, but I’m not sure if it’ll love good on me.. I’ll still get it anyway, I’m sure.
Okay I have tried not to put my two cents in but apparently I can’t help myself. The thing is did I believe Jennifer Lawrence to be a 16 year old? Hell No! Did I believe her to be a twenty something loving sister, that would do anything to save her family? Yes, yes and yes!! Hollywood these days typecasts too old. Here is what I mean: I was talking to my best friend Gloria over the phone today, I wanted to take her to see the Hunger games but our schedules were conflicted so I took another friend. So Gloria was asking me about the Hunger Games, she has never read the books or seen the movie, she has seen previews. I said to her “What is your general idea about the hunger games?” She replied with: “It’s about a boy and girl chosen from districts to fight.” Then I said: “From the previews how old do you think the main cast is meant to be?” Remember she has only seen the previews her answer: “Twenty something.” I think Jennifer Lawrence looks utterly amazing but I just can’t see her baby faced like Ralph Macchio, he had that baby face look about him, and when I found out how old he actually was it was a total mind blow, we all actually thought he was a teen! I know a lot of people out there look younger than they actually are, but the Hunger games did not support this theory at all. I love the cast I really do but the one character who did it for me was Rue, she looked like the sweet innocent child, and it was a shame that they didn’t have more Rue and Katniss moments. I’m sorry for the long post but I had to get that off my chest.
Hey Ashley super cute new tee. I read the Hunger Games and loved every word. I saw the movie with my friends at the midnight showing. It was amazing! There was even a guy dressed up as Effie… Werid, right? I was disapointed they left some details out, too. But I was pretty pleased with it.
Catching Fire Thanksgiving 2013! Can’t wait!
Can’t wait for new tees next month!
After reading The Hunger Games I am now totally a fangirl (LOVE Peeta!) and I’m hoping some Hunger Games merchandise will be added to the line!

Hey Ashley! I love the new style of t-shirt! It’s super cute!
I also LOVE THG!! I was really disappointed by a lot of stuff (or the lack thereof) in the movie. But over all it was good. Rue’s death was so touching. I read that Gary Ross isn’t directing the next movie so maybe Catching Fire will be a little better.
And Jennifer Lawrence did a great job!
May the Force be with you. And May the odds be ever in your favor!

Love the shirt, it’s adorable
OOOO! What are the NEW major Sci-fi franchises???? I can’t wait to find out! (transformers or avengers maybe) *Wink, wink, nudge, nudge*
Loved HG too! What an amazing series. I enjoyed the movie very much, and of course a little disappointed with some of the things left out :/ And yes I loved Jennifer Lawrence playing Katniss. It’s like she jumped right of the book!
MTFBWY!
