Dream Your World. Be Your World. Flaunt Your World.
About 'Her Universe'
Her Universe is the vision of Ashley Eckstein, actress and voice of Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and The Araca Group, a leading theatrical and brand management company. Founded by Eckstein in 2009, Ashley and Araca created Her Universe with the mission to create stylish, fashion-forward merchandise for female sci-fi fans. Her Universe is a place for fangirls to step into the spotlight and be heard, recognized and rewarded. The Her Universe goal, from the beginning, was to build the company into a stand-alone entertainment and merchandise brand and with the female audience for sci-fi growing dramatically in numbers and largely unnoticed until now, Her Universe is leading the way. Hoping to change the perception that science fiction and fantasy is just for the boys, Her Universe has joined forces with some of the biggest names in the sci-fi/fantasy world to create merchandise exclusively for female fans – both apparel and accessories for such well-known names as Star Wars, Doctor Who, Star Trek and The Walking Dead. Ashley Eckstein has now become one of the leading voices for female fans while Her Universe is making fangirls "geek chic" from head to toe!
I was born in Louisville, KY to a hard working Italian father and a creative elementary school teacher mother. When I was just a baby, my parents moved our family to Orlando, FL where my father took a position working for a very famous Mouse. You could say I grew up Disney. My love affair with storytelling and fantasy began and thrived in that environment. I was definitely a child whose imagination knew no limits. I was always performing for any one who would watch as well as designing my outfits or dresses to perform in. When I was 10 years old, I actually designed my first dress. I told my Mom that I wanted to be in a beauty pageant and that I didn't want to buy my dress from a store, but I wanted to design it. I took elements from the different Disney Princess dresses and worked with a seamstress to create my very first design.
As I continued to perform, you could definitely say that I was bit by the acting bug. I knew that I wanted to be an actress but I never lost my love or desire to design clothes. I often designed my own homecoming or prom dress while in high school or everyday outfits when I needed something new to wear. I always yearned for the opportunity to one day be able to do both, act and design professionally.
In 2001, I moved to Los Angeles to pursue a professional acting career. I worked on several television and movie projects including That's So Raven, Blue Collar TV, Drake and Josh, Sydney White and Alice Upside Down. In 2006 I landed the role of a lifetime when I was cast as the voice of Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. As a long time Star Wars fan, this was truly a dream come true and it also gave me the opportunity to finally be able to act and design professionally. Noticing a need for merchandise for female sci-fi fans, I founded Her Universe, a product line just for Her, starting with Star Wars and expanding to other well known franchises such as Doctor Who, Star Trek and The Walking Dead! Now I am blessed to have the best of both worlds, and am able act and design for a story and genre that I love so dearly. I am truly grateful for this opportunity to fulfill a childhood dream.
